The United States government and the Big Ag and Big Food Corporations are behind a program of cruel and inhumane experimentation on farm animals, according to a new report by the New York Times.
The Times says that a little-known agricultural and veterinary research facility, the U.S. Meat Animal Research Center, conducts experimetsn in breeding and performs surgery on farm animals. As one would expect the official website sticks to the familiar narrative that the work of the centre is ethical and intended to be beneficial to human society while protecting the animals' interests. That's bollocks of course, the animals are experimented on so new breed can be developed that will produce more offspring, yield more meat and be less expensive to raise. As always the scientific research is aimed at the benefit of that small group of humans, the corporate shareholders.
All is not well however, the usually Government and Corporate friendly N Y Times says that these experiments have turned grisly, and many livestock have been subjected to unnecessary pain, deformity and premature death.
The Times article accounts horrors at the huge agricultural facility in Clay Center, Nebraska. They include sows farrowing as many as 14 piglets (eight is the typical number), many of which are extremely frail and subsequently crushed when the sows roll over on them in their pens.
The paper also reports that cows are being engineered to give birth to twins and even triplets, instead of the standard single birth. As a result, the calves “often emerge weakened or deformed, dying in such numbers that even meat producers have been repulsed.”
Worse yet, the center has attempted to breed sheep that require less shepherding and shelter, and that could give birth in open fields. The results, however, have been devastating, as the sheep have not taken well to this experiment and they’ve been left unprotected from predators.
If you are a vegetarian you will be way ahead of The Daily Stirrer on this one, if you are a meat eater like us however, and with regard to your financial circumstances, try to eat less meat but better quality, avoid packaged meat products (usually marketed by Big Food corporations), support your local butcher, farm shop or farmers' market if that's possible and if you have to buy from supermarkets make sure you get UK or EU produced meat (the EU is good for some things, but only consumer pressure has kept them so, the bureaucrats support TTIP and would sell out to corporate interests in the wink of an eye.
Readers of this blog and our other sites will be well aware of the Trans Atlantic Trade and Investment Partnership, (our TTIP page linked above the so called free trade treaty that will make slaves of us punters and free global corporations to do what they like. The way farm animals are treated and bred is a case in point. The TTIP clauses that permit corporations to sue governments and overturn national laws they find inconvenient would serve the interests of America's factory farming industry perfectly.

Anti-Islam rally in German city Dresden canceled over threat
PEGIDA, or Patriotic Europeans against the Islamization of the West, the group that has been staging protests against what it calls “the Islamization of the West” in the German city of Dresden says it is calling off this week's rally, planned for Monday because of an alleged threat against one of its organizers.
PEGIDA has organized rallies every Monday since last October with just a few hundred people attending the first. Last week’s event drew the biggest crowd yet, with police estimating some 25,000 people attended.
On Sunday, PEGIDA'S Facebook page announced it is calling off this week’s rally for security reasons because, according to police, “there is a concrete threat against a member of the organization team.”
The Dresden rallies have drawn criticism from many German politicians including Chancellor Merkel. The wholesale opposition from left wing groups and Anti - western PC - consensus politicians whose cowardice in the face of extremist threats is beyond doubt has given rise to specualtion on the internet that the threats have been invented by German security forces as an excuse for stopping the rallies.
Meanwhile the solidarity across the political spectrum in France in support of free speech and press freedom following the Charlie Hebdo attack has drawn a quick response from those who hate the concept of liberty.
French Media Hit by Wave of Cyber Attacks following Charlie Hebdo Killings
France has been hit with a wave of cyber-attacks since the Charlie Hebdo killings, according to Associated Press. Many websites have been overwritten to display a message reading “The Islamic State Stay Inchallah. Free Palestine. Death To France. Death To Charlie.” Major media sites such as Le Parisien, L’Express, 20 Minutes, France Inter, and Mediapart were amongst the targets.
As many as 20,000 websites have been targeted, including those of pizzerias and florists as well as the media organizations. Most were fixed quickly. France’s head of cyber-defence Rear Admiral Arnaud Coustilliere told reporters the attacks were carried out by well know Islamist hacker groups.
“That’s never been seen before. It’s the first time that a country has been faced with such a large wave,” he said.
While French government officials utter mealy mouthed please for tolerance and understanding and try to suggest that mocking religion goes beyond the limits of free speech, the pushback from right and left continues. Adversity makes for strange bedfellows but who would have thought before the attacks that the anti - immigration party Front National and the left leaning hacking collective Anonymous would be making common cause.
Anonymous has vowed to wage war against the Islamic terrorists online. A Belgian branch of the group has launched #OpCharlieHebdo, releasing a video (now removed) addressed to “al-Qaida, Islamic State and other terrorists” in which they declare their intent to take down the websites and social media accounts of terrorists.
The French language message was also posted in text form to
pastebin.com, addressed to “the enemies of freedom of expression”. The message expresses condolences to the families of those killed in the Paris attacks who “died for freedom”, and continues “It is clear that some people do not want, in a free world, this inviolable and sacred right to express in any way his opinions. Anonymous will never leave this right violated by obscurantism and mysticism. We will fight always and everywhere the enemies of freedom of expression.
“Freedom of expression and opinion is a non-negotiable thing to tackle it is to attack democracy. Expect a massive frontal reaction from us because the struggle for the defense of those freedoms is the foundation of our movement.
“We are legion. We will not forget. We do not forgive. Dread us!”
Good for Anonymous, Bad For Islamic Jihadist Pope Francis
We have to say that from the moment he was elected after the political jiggery pokery surrounding the resignation of Dear Old Pope Benny, Pope Francis struck us as dodgy. Like Obama and Cameron he was too keen to be everybody's new best mate, he seemed to be more eager to tell Catholics how they should change to keep anti Catholic extremists happy rather that defending the faith of which he is supposed to be spiritual leader.

Francis, who has called on Muslim leaders in particular to speak out against Islamic extremism, was asked by a French journalist about whether there were limits when freedom of expression meets freedom of religion.
Actually Francis, we believe we can insult, ridicule or parody the faith of others because we do it to our own religion. If Catholics and Muslims want to live in medieval ignorance for the sake of their death cult religions, that's their problem.

Alternative media, including The Daily Stirrer we are happy to say, warned about this weeks ago. It was all predicted in advance as a move toward World War III. The website All News Pipeline summarizes the predictions which were widely printed across the alternative media weeks ago.
Former U.S. Treasury Secretary Paul Craig Roberts had also warned in advance of a "Black Swan Event" such as Russia cutting off energy supplies to European nations as a prelude to war. Europe depends heavily on natural gas supplies from Russia which are piped into the region via Ukraine. This is especially true in the winter when gas is needed for heat.
In addition to cutting off natural gas supplies to Europe, Russia has also "just pulled itself out of the petrodollar," reports Zero Hedge.
The story quotes Bloomberg.com stating that Russia "may unseal its $88 billion Reserve Fund and convert some of its foreign-currency holdings into ruble."

Who’s a Charlie? France cracks down on free speech in order to defend it
In grim and supreme irony, French police have fanned out to suppress free speech in order to defend it.
“France ordered prosecutors around the country to crack down on hate speech, anti-Semitism and glorifying terrorism, announcing Wednesday that 54 people had been arrested for those offenses” since last week, the Associated Press reports.
The news of the arrests comes a week after the murders of 17 people at and near the offices of the magazine Charlie Hebdo and at a Jewish supermarket in Paris.
It also comes days after dozens of world leaders, led by French President François Hollande, gathered in Paris to demonstrate in support of free speech and in defiance of the killers who sought to silence it.
The most high-profile arrest is undoubtedly that of the comedian Dieudonné, allegedly on grounds of “justifying terrorism,” for a comment he made on Facebook.
I do not find Dieudonné funny and I find much of what he says offensive. In my reading, he and his supporters deliberately blur a line that must be kept sharp between criticizing Zionism and Israel, on the one hand, and attacking Jews as Jews on the other.
This is something I have always spoken against clearly and therefore I do not see Dieudonné as someone in solidarity with Palestinians.
I also do not find Dieudonné’s defense that his bigotry is just “humor” any more convincing from him than when it comes from Charlie Hebdo.
But I do not think that the Facebook comment for which Dieudonné was reportedly arrested can by any stretch be described as “justifying terrorism.” Nor do I think that if the Charlie Hebdo cartoonists who were murdered were held to the same standards that much of their work would be considered any less offensive or racist than Dieudonné’s.
And of course the implications go far beyond the personal situation of Dieudonné.
The French daily Le Figaro reports that Dieudonné was arrested by judicial police at his home near Paris for investigation of “apologie de terrorisme” – justifying or making an apologia for terrorism.

Economist: World Leaders Will Exploit Charlie Hebdo to Eliminate Internet Privacy
Economist Martin Armstrong warns that the twin attacks in France will be used by world leaders to push for restrictions on Internet privacy and the total elimination of encrypted communications.
Armstrong, who correctly predicted the 1987 Black Monday crash as well as the 1998 Russian financial collapse,
writes that, “They are using this latest event precisely as they used 911 to strip us of all rights.”
“David Cameron, PM of Britain, wants to block WhatsApp and Snapchat if he wins the next election, as part of his plans for new surveillance. Britain will lead the charge to outlaw encryption altogether when Britain has been walking hand-in-hand with the NSA. They are using this latest event precisely as they used 911 to strip us of all rights,” adds Armstrong.
The economist also relates how he has been told behind the scenes that, “They are looking to use this as a new push to gather all taxes they stupidly think will keep them operating.”
“They are BRAIN-DEAD and cannot see that what they are doing is destroying everything,” concludes Armstrong.
The Charlie Hebdo shooting and the subsequent attack on a Jewish grocery store were followed by an alleged ISIS hack of the Pentagon’s Twitter accounts.
Despite the fact that, according to the group which calls itself Anonymous,
the hack leads back to Maryland, home of the NSA, the White House is likely to cite the incident as another reason to push for the reanimation of controversial legislation, as well as executive action, which will impose new controls on the world wide web.
The Sony hack, which was blamed on North Korea but was more likely to have been
an inside job according to experts, was also used to
grease the skids for cybersecurity measures that had previously been considered dead.
Despite world leaders marching in defense of freedom in Paris just a day after the terrorists were killed, French President Francois Hollande’s initial response was to put
10,000 troops on the streets. There has also been discussion of tighter surveillance laws and a French-style ‘Patriot Act’, despite the fact that stringent surveillance measures already in place failed to stop the attacks.
As
the Guardian’s Trevor Timm writes, the attacks were quickly seized upon by western governments to put a halt to NSA reforms, while
Prime Minister Cameron called for the state to be given more powers to intercept Internet communications in the name of fighting terror.
During a
speech yesterday, Cameron stated that there should be no “means of communication” which “we cannot read,” preparing the groundwork for back-doors to be introduced into software that would allow continuous government monitoring.

One story that has slipped away from us recently as we have tried to bring you a fair and balanced view of the Ched Evans With Hunt, the

Petrodollar amongs other catastrophe's that have happened, are happening or are waiting to happen, has been the progress of the Boko Haram rebellion in Nigeria.
Thought they were just another bunch of nutters who did a few kidnappings and a few bomb outrages and then went away did you. Well you thought wrong.

After days of razing villages and pitiless massacre,
Boko Haram finished the first week of a new year week with its most horrifying atrocity to date.
As people bustled through the Saturday market in the
Nigerian city of Maiduguri, a device
borne by a ten year-old girl exploded near the entrance.
A witness said the girl probably had no idea that a bomb had been strapped to her body.
The explosion just before lunch killed 20, including the girl, and injured 18, according to the police.
Boko Haram did not immediately claim the attack, but the Islamic insurgents have
increasingly used young girls as human bombs as they carve an African "Caliphate” from the plains of northern Nigeria.
Today, Boko Haram controls about 20,000 square miles of territory - an area the size of Belgium. Within this domain, the black flag of jihad flies over scores of towns and villages scattered across the neighbouring states of Borno and Yobe.
The latest conquest was the fishing town of Baga on the shores of Lake Chad, which fell to the Islamists last Wednesday.
We should not forget that last year our friend Little Nicky Machiavelli reported on a Wikileaks revelation that Boko Haram was yet another terrorist operaton funded, armed and trained by the American CIA
We agree it is a gut curdling image. I thought it was time to remind those still singing the praises of multiculturalism and uncontrolled immigration just what is waiting out there to be imported into our green and pleasant land.
The politically correct though police will say it is not typical of Africa. True, in fact the Boko Haram scum aren't typical of Nigeria, I've read there are about 50,000 of them in a population if nearly 150 million.
But that does not change the the fact that the terrorists are winning and Goodluck Jonathan's good luck has run out.

Front National Leader Marine Le Pen Calls for Death Penalty After Paris Attack
Marine Le Pen, leader of France’s Front National and current front-runner in the polls on the 2017 Presidential election, has in the wake of the terror attack on satirical magazine Charlie Hedbo, which left twelve journalists dead, reaffirmed her commitment to giving the French people a referendum on the reintroduction of the death penalty.
Stating that she would restore capital punishment should she gain the Presidency in the 2017 election, which recent polls taken before Wednesday’s terrorist atrocity suggest she could win, the Front National (FN) leader said France needed to take steps to protect her fellow “countrymen”,
Russia Today reported.
Speaking on French television, Le Pen said: “I personally believe that the death penalty should exist in our legal arsenal… I always said that I would offer French citizens the possibility to express themselves on the topic through a referendum”.
The official FN YouTube account carries a video in which Le Pen says: “My fellow compatriots. France is plunged into mourning, hit by a terrible terrorist attack in the centre of Paris on the Charlie Hebdo’s magazine.
“Our country has never experienced so much barbarism for decades. The nation is united to condemn this hideous terrorist attack and to share the pain of the families. The nation is united to express our attachment to freedom of information and the freedom of press against who this attack was aimed at. But the nation is also united to say that we, the French people, regardless of our origins, will not accept this attack against our freedoms and against our lives; it is the terrorists’ objectives to put our freedom and our lives in danger.
“But we have enough intelligence to know that those attacks against us are not the consequences of fate. These are trained men with a deadly ideology who are murdering millions across the world. The objective is to terrorize, censure, paralyse with fear, and for others to submit. We condemn this attack”.
Socialist President Francois Hollande called the attack "an act of exceptional barbarity" and "undoubtedly a terrorist attack."
Announcing a day of national mourning on Thursday Hollande called for "national unity", adding that "several terrorist attacks had been foiled in recent weeks".
In appealing for calm and tolerance Holland asked the French people not to be swayed by those who will blame immigration for the atrocity and said France must reject racism. Like Cameron and Merkel, President Hollande is suffering from congnitive dissonance if he cannot compehentd that as long as government immigration policy keeps inporting extremist who hate Europeans and everything to do with European society and culture into European nations there will always be racial tensions.

The front lines of the food sovereignty war in Ghana are swelling as the national parliament gives support to the Plant Breeders Bill.
This proposed legislation contains rules that would restrict farmers from ancient practices: freely saving, swapping, and breeding seeds. Under new laws protecting the intellectual property rights of biotech, farmers would be subject to hefty fines for growing anything that has been ‘patented,’ even if their crops were cross-pollinated.
The obviously biotech-infiltrated Ghanaian government states that the new laws would “incentivize the development of new seed varieties to ensure the marketability of crops,” but farmers argue it gives rights straight to corporations like Monsanto, and not farmers who have been growing food in Ghana for centuries.
Many activists and trade groups there think that the new laws would simply give Monsanto a way to edge their biotech crops into the Ghanaian market. The bill has been dubbed the “Monsanto Law” for this reason.
It is nothing short of a corporate take-over of the food system – and in Ghana, where 70 percent of food is currently grown by small farms – it would turn an ages-old system of sustainable food supply into a tremendously large economy for biotech.
The Ghana National Association of Farmers and Fishermen states:
“This system aims to compel farmers to purchase seeds for every planting season.”
Duke Tagoe of Food Sovereignty Ghana is well aware of the tremendous debt that farmers in other parts of the world have been subjected to via Monsanto’s seed monopolies:
“The economic impact on the lives of farmers will be disastrous. . .The origin of food is seed. Whoever controls the seed control the entire food chain.”
This is no different than the “Monsanto Protection Act” (H.R. 933) that President Obama signed into law not long ago in the US, even as hordes of Americans urged him not to do so. This is also linked to the UK support of the biotech take-over planned in Africa.
How long will it take for everyone to collectively realize that GMOs are not the answer, that self-sufficient and age-old farming practices can provide the world with food in a tremendously less toxic way?

It has now been revealed that Greater Manchester Council has approved 292 taxi licences for convicted criminals since 2007, these include licences granted to convicted rapists, sex offenders and paedophiles. The figures were discovered in the official response to a freedom of information act request lodged by the Manchester Evening News. The Council insist that they would take a history of sex offences “incredibly seriously” when approving licence applications but the evidence suggests otherwise., A Manchester Member of Parliament said the figures were “alarming”.

2015 Will Be The Story Of China, Russia, Iran and The Petrodollar
If recent events are anything to go by, 2015 is set to be another year of 'interesting times' as China, Russia and Iran square up against the American bid for global hegemony and continue their efforts to see the US dollar dumped as the global reserve currency and the oil trading system known as The Petrodollar replaced by bilateral trades being settled in the currency of the vendor nation.
We don't know how this will turn out yet of course, but given the fragility of the US economy which is dependent on borrowing and already overburdened with debt (as we reported previously) the USA is not in such a commanding position as its leaders like to imagine. And given that Washington has pent the past twenty years progressively pissing off its natural allies, when push comes to shove that position may not actually be commanding at all.
As the BRICS, Russia, Brazil, India, China and South Africa form closer economic bonds and given that Iran is a long time ally of both Moscow and Beijing, there will undoubtedly be further moves towards the economic integration of Eurasia as the USA is increasingly isolated economically. This may not be apparent from anything you read of hear in Western Media, but while Europe's political union, the EU, remains committed to NATO and the USA, the swing towards anti European start up political movements across the member states and the scepticism shown by business leaders to the Obama administration's flagship trade treaties TTIP and TPP The complex geostrategic manoeuvres progressively undermining the hegemony of the US dollar as a reserve currency and, most of all, the petrodollar will continue, in fact the move to abandon The Petrodollar is likely to accelerate.
China faces immense challenges, but Beijing watchers report these are being approached with self-confidence of fully emerged economic superpower. President Xi Jinping and the his regime will keep investing heavily in the urbanization drive and the fight against corruption that exist from the highest levels of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP)to the lowliest local official. Internationally, the Chinese will step up their push for new overland and maritime 'Silk Roads' which will underpin the long-term Chinese strategy of unifying Eurasia with trade and commerce.
Global oil prices are likely to stay low as Obama, a man who does not learn from mistakes, continues to flood the market with oil from America's vast shale deposits in spite of oil companies being unable to sell the product at a profit in the current market conditions. Saudi Arabia and the OPEC counties will continue to ignore American demands for them to cut production. It is typical of Obama and the race obsessed amateurs he has packed his administration with that, intent on punishing Russia for protecting its own interests in Syria and Ukraine, they are inflicting more harm on their allies and their own people.
A nuclear deal between Iran and the P5+1 nuclear powers looks unlikely. If sanctions (actually economic war) against Iran continue to seriously hurt its economy, Tehran’s reaction will be to look for even more integration with Asia, not the West.
Washington is well-aware that a comprehensive deal with Iran cannot be reached without Russia’s help and yet The Rent Boy President continues to provoke Russian anger. A return to the “Bomb Iran” hysteria of the past would only suit the usual suspects who would profit from war. It is insane then that both Iran and Russia are now subject to US led Western sanctions. No matter how it was engineered, the fact that stands is that the current financial/strategic oil price collapse is a direct attack against (who else?) Iran and Russia and those nations are not going to sit back and absorb the pain forever.

*One of the reasons the British nuclear program because so disastrously expensive was that the government appointed scientists to run it, so instead of designing an efficient system and using that design for a generation of nuclear power stations as was done in the USA, France and Germany, each construction project became an experiment. Thus each project overran its budget, was delivered diastrously late and created a nightmare scenario for operators.

Mainstream media reporting of the conflict in Ukraine has disappointed. Perhaps I was naive to suppose that lessons might have been learned from the hits their print sales and online traffic rates took as a result of their handling the COVID pandemic But instead of focusing on the most obviously newsworthy aspect of the build up to and escalation of the war, Russia’s view of NATO expansion into Ukraine and even further to Georgia and Kazakhstan, news reports have simply demonised Russia and portrayed Ukraine as the good guys.

Former Surrey Comet news editor gagged over reporting of alleged paedophile ring
A former Surrey Comet news editor was gagged by the Government over the reporting of an alleged Westminster paedophile ring operating out of Elm Guest House in Barnes.
Hilton Tims, 82, the paper’s news editor between 1980 and 1988, revealed at the weekend he had been handed a D-notice preventing the reporting of sex allegations in 1984.
Elm Guest House, in Rocks Lane, is at the centre of the Metropolitan Police’s Operation Fernbridge, which is investigating claims of sexual abuse and grooming of children by Government ministers, MPs and senior police officers in the late 1970s and early 80s.

These farmers were promised higher yields and lower chemical costs, but in many cases the exact opposite of this is what actually occurs.

Adovcates of genetically modified food crops, particularly the GM versions of staple foods such as wheat, corn, soya beans and potatoes say 'the science is settled' and Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs) pose not risk to human health or the environment and will feed the world's poor. Not so say independent scienctific studies, GM crops are risky, do not provide increased yields and will only result in handing control of the food supply to some very untrustworthy corporate interests.

Facebook, Google, Twitter and other technology giants must “live up to their social responsibilities” and do more to take down extremist material from the internet, David Cameron has suggested.
Mr Cameron said that the internet cannot remain an “ungoverned space” and that technology companies must be “more proactive” in helping authorities remove “harmful” material.
