A team of scientists has grown hybrid embryos in the womb of a sheep that contain human stem cells, moving the sci-fi idea of developing human organs inside animals one step closer to reality, and sparking ethical concerns.
The development could potentially save thousands lives among people who are in a need of vital organ transplants. Many patients die before they reach to the top of a queue, but scientists have long claimed organs like a pancreas for example, grown inside a pig, sheep or some other animal, could possibly not only save a life but also cure a chronic illness such Type 1 Diabetes.
This week, the team from Stanford University announced they had grown a sheep embryo injected with adult human stem cells for 28 days, including 21 days inside a sheep mother. The news was revealed at a meeting of the American Association for the Advancement of Science in Austin, Texas, the Guardian reports. The experiment had to be terminated, as U.S. law forbids developing cross-species embryos, called chimera, for more than 28 days.
Researchers had already created the first human-pig hybrid. The major difference this time is they achieved a much higher ratio of human cells to animal cells in the hybrid embryo, which is one human cell to about 10,000 sheep cells, according to Dr. Pablo Ross from the University of California.
To prevent the natural abortion of the unnatural embryo and create the part-human, part-animal chimera, the researchers use a gene-editing technique. First, they deleted genes needed for developing a certain organ in an animal embryo, then they injected human stem cells to fill the void. In 2010, Japanese scientists were the first to use this method to create a mouse and rat chimera, where the rat cells were introduced into a mouse to form a missing pancreas.
Last year, the same team that is now working on a sheep embryo, announced that it had, for the most part, cured diabetes in mice after transplanting a mouse pancreas it had grown in a rat.
There’s still a long way to go until this could be possible to replicate on humans, the researchers said. Unlike the rats or mice, both sheep and pigs have organs similar in size to those of a human.
"It could take five years or it could take 10 years but I think eventually we will be able to do this," the study’s co-author Hiromitsu Nakauchi of Stanford University said.

“The objectives of scientific research into modern mind control are always spoken of in terms of alleviation of mental anguish, and of healing the psychological woulds we are told we all suffer in childhood. Reflect for a moment however on what kind of people have an interest in mind control: the mad scientists whose lives are one long ego trip, an attempt to show they are so clever they can control nature, and elitist politicians whose aim is to secrure for themselves ever greater levels of control over a compliant population. So you would not expect truthful statements about an agenda that involved eugenics, population control and the suppression of individual will? The mind contrtol experiments going on now must be filed under the ‘greatest good for the greatest number’ category of Dr. Evil style science.
The premise an unsuspecting population is sold goes something like this; less thought, less self doubt, more happiness. A gift given to the essentially passive human being, the slacker, the proverbial couch popato that we are constantly told we must not become. Most memories have some kind of emotion associated with them: Recalling the week you just spent at the beach probably makes you feel happy, while reflecting on being bullied provokes more negative feelings.
A new study from MIT neuroscientists reveals the brain circuit that controls how memories become linked with positive or negative emotions. Furthermore, the researchers found that they could reverse the emotional association of specific memories by manipulating brain cells with optogenetics — a technique that uses light to control neuron activity.
The findings, described in the Aug. 27 issue of Nature, demonstrated that a neuronal circuit connecting the hippocampus and the amygdala plays a critical role in associating emotion with memory. This circuit could offer a target for new drugs to help treat conditions such as post-traumatic stress disorder, the researchers say.
“In the future, one may be able to develop methods that help people to remember positive memories more strongly than negative ones,” says Susumu Tonegawa, the Picower Professor of Biology and Neuroscience, director of the RIKEN-MIT Center for Neural Circuit Genetics at MIT’s Picower Institute for Learning and Memory, and senior author of the paper.
The paper’s lead authors are Roger Redondo, a Howard Hughes Medical Institute postdoc at MIT, and Joshua Kim, a graduate student in MIT’s Department of Biology.

Yet mention to these fringe scientists, the militant atheists and Secular Humanism cult types that what they are really talking about is intelligent design (after all a program must have a programmer, right?) and they throw a hissy fit and immediately accuse you of being a young earth creationist.
And yet what they are doing is Intelligent Design. Change the protien, the molecule, the cell, the family, the environment, the DNA. Initiate new biological control systems to dictate patterns of behaviour and social organization.
The whole basis of this exercise is the belief that we humans are just biological machines, passive recipients of influences. Therefore, alter the influences.
On the low end, you have the CIA’s mind-control program, MKULTRA. At the high end, you have something like this: “the universe is taking us to an ultimate state of consciousness, and we’re cells in the super body of All Wisdom, which is gradually revealing its truth to us.”
Either way, humans are viewed as passive as another paragrapgh in the MIT paper illustrates.

Controlled cause-effect, stimulus-response interfaces with the brain, no matter how basic or complex, suppression of free will and the freedom to act is what the scientists and their paymasters are aiming for. A human existence in which free thought, choice, self determination, and imagination are radically diminished.
For example: “the brain is source of consciousness.”
Consider how physics looks at the brain: it is an organ of the body, made up of the same particles that populate the rest of the universe. Nowhere, in any of those particles, is the capacity to understand meaning.
Therefore, the brain cannot understand meaning.
We are told somewhat absurdly that meaning is merely a chemical/biological/electromagnetic illusion, an ongoing “readout” to which we are passively subjected (do you get the impression these scientists watched The Matix franchise undr the impression they were watching documentaries).
Possessed of such demented view of life, scientists feel perfectly justified in experimenting and tinkering with, and changing, the “human machine.” In fact, for Dr. Ewen Cameron, the most highly regarded psychiatrist in the world during the 1940s and 50s, an individual’s personality was the property of society, represented by men such as himself. (You will find articles on the God complex that afficts many leading scientists elsewhere in this book so I'll let that one pass without comment)
Armed with such indestructible arrogance, Cameron devised a method of torture called “psychic driving,” which involved administering many powerful electric shocks to his patients’ brains, coupled with intensive drugging that put them into consecutive weeks of sleep, after which he played them tapes that repeated pat phrases millions of times—all in an effort to erase their personalities and install new ones.
Cameron worked on contract to the CIA, as a researcher in its infamous MKULTRA program.
These days, the research on programming is far more subtle, but the objective is the same. The patient would not experience overt physical pain while a particular circuit in his brain is “neutralized,” but he would never function in the same way again. He would be “new,” (or 'reconstructed' to use a term from Maoist China.
Anyone who is not familiar with the type of experiment in social and human engineering carried out under the twentieth century tyrants I mentioned above should read some good and unexpurgated histories of Nazi Germany, Soviet Russdia and Communist China, unlike the half wit scientist who recently told me I was an ignorant fool for drawing parallels between Nazi Germany and Soviet Russia only proved what an ill informed shit-for-brains he is, the comparison has been made many thousands of times by historians, social scientists and political commentators.
The only way in which the twenty - first century mind meddlers differ is that without the protection of a tyrant, they have to be more guarded and subtle when describing what they are doing.

Google’s Eric Schmidt Greases Skids For Internet Brain Chip

Google CEO Eric Schmidt greased the skids for an Internet brain chip during a speech at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland earlier today when he predicted the end of the world wide web as an external concept.
Asked how he saw the Internet developing in future years, Schmidt responded. “I will answer very simply that the Internet will disappear.”
“There will be so many IP addresses…so many devices, sensors, things that you are wearing, things that you are interacting with that you won’t even sense it,” he added. “It will be part of your presence all the time. Imagine you walk into a room, and the room is dynamic. And with your permission and all of that, you are interacting with the things going on in the room.”
Schmidt, who previously caused controversy amongst privacy advocates when he stated, “If you have something that you don’t want anyone to know, maybe you shouldn’t be doing it in the first place,” concluded his Davos speech by envisaging “A highly personalized, highly interactive and very, very interesting world.”
When Schmidt speaks of sensors that will replace the Internet as a platform accessed only through an external device, he is talking about implantable brain chips.
As we previously reported, in December 2013, Google engineering director Scott Huffman predicted that within five years web users would have microphones attached to their ceilings and microchips embedded in their brains in order to perform quicker internet searches.
This ubiquitous world wide web would utilize microphones to instantly answer queries, control other technological devices and make travel plans.
When asked if such a system would be more vulnerable to government surveillance, Huffman glibly responded that people should just trust Google (a company that allowed the NSA to mine data from its cloud network “at will”) to safeguard their information.
“Google believes it can ultimately fulfil people’s data needs by sending results directly to microchips implanted into its user’s brains,” states the Independent newspaper report which features the interview with Huffman.
So when Eric Schmidt talks of the Internet “disappearing,” he really means that it will disappear inside your head.
While transhumanists will see this as an exciting leap forward for the world wide web, others will be understandably alarmed at the concept of a giant transnational corporation with cosy NSA connections having microchips embedded inside its customers’ brains.

Genetically engineered perfect babies, human / animal hybrids, these things have been in wet dream territory for scientists for a long time. But now due to techniques such as DNA editing, they are getting worryingly close to reality. And as has been demonstrated many times, scientists have zero uderstanding of where the ethical boundaries lie.
Designer babies, genetically modified for beauty, intelligence, athetic prowess or artistic ability have been on the agenda of the science community for a long time. For decades a favoutite theme of science fiction novels and movies, and openly discussed after the last Olympics.
Science heads showed how fucked up and lacking humanity they are by seriously proposing to negate the years of dedication, commitment, sacrifce and striving for excellence that have always been the path to becoming a champion in favour of doctoring human DNA with genes from a flea to produce prodigious high jumpers or with genes from a grayhound to get suprfast sprinters.
I think even ethically challenged types would see such monstrosities would make competition meaningless. but not the science heads. With them its all about ego, about showing they can control nature.
Well now, according to a research team at the University of Bath, doctoring DNA to produce designer babies is possible. Time for the backlash to start. If we have to fight to protect our humanity from these people, lets show them how superior natural humans are to the kind of sick scientific freaks who want to make us sub human.

Every human being (and their dogs) in Britain is to be provided with a government-backed virtual ID to store personal data online, file tax returns and apply for driving licences through a single portal, the lead story in The Times informs us today.
Now you may hear Labour supporters and others of the authoritarian left screaming that the plan exposes the intention of The Conservatives to create a police state, do not be taken in; this is the idea floated by Labour under Blair to compel us all to BUY and electronic ID card which would replace our passport, driving licence and be the only way of accessing government services to claim benefits, seek healthcare or deal with any government department. That plan was shelved due to firce and overwhelming public opposition but at the time sceptics and dissident organisations were warning bureaucrats never abandoned a plan to extend their tyrannical reach.
And now with the Conservative led coalition facing an election in less than twelve months and the civil servants and public service unions desperatle wanting a free spending (and borrowing), personal liberty curtailing, Labour government back in power because Labour always presides over a massive increase in the size of government, we see the ID card idea back with slightly less scary window dressing. Within a year of their launch, more than half a million people are expected to start using the new "Verify” scheme to prove their identity, under a radical expansion of public services available online.
And how many years will it be before they are compulsory and beining outside one's home without an official permit is an arrestable offence (bright sparks may recall this was part of the Labour ID card scheme)
Most people don't have a clue what manner of government control over our personal liberty with personal electronic ID will pave the way for. A massive US government and corporate partnership has been developing "web ID,” a master password matching you with your online activities which the partnership hopes to sell to governments around the world. It is one gate by which all will enter. And one gate means one gatekeeper. The virtual ID is the final step into a world of global fascism. Why do you think the Obama administration in the USA has been so keen to try to subjugate nations whose governments are likely to resist its global hegemony?
The purpose of this scheme is to eventually be able to verify every single person who uses the web. You will have one master password for all of your use and transactions. It will link to your biometric ID which will include fingerprints, iris regognition facial recognition and voice patterns. The intention is that the system will track and store your every action, location and much more. Without it you will not be able to buy a radio or TV, take a flight, transact money, get a job, claim benefits, pay your bills or see your doctor. It will be a universal aggregator of your data.
And what do you think will become of your right to free speech or personal protest then? Too effing right they'll disappear, faster than a white rabbit in a magician's hat. And you too, think about it, the human you will cease to exist as far as the intitutions of state are concerned, no virtual ID, no you. Your online presence will be your only existence.
As the system rolls out it will become 'internationalised' (whatever that means, it can't be good for our personal liberty). When Virtual or Smart ID becomes mandatory as it will because there is no point in these cards unless every human being is required to use one, privacy will be gone forever.
As Edward Snowden said GCHQ is more dangerous than the NSA and without Snowden we wouldn't even be aware of the curently possible privacy breaches in the first place let alone a full-on biometric ID with all your personal data in the hands of government agencies. They will use it to control you, abuse it to rob you of your human rights and sell it to corporate interests so they may more easily steal from you. People are individuals not assets to be exploited and controlled, which is what this latest corporate - bureaucratic fascist abomination is about.

I didn't write this myself but I though it important enough to be speard around - and I have posted a lot on transhumanism and the psychotic insanity of modern scientists recently. Synthetic food, synthetic voice, synthetic body, synthetic memory, synthetic brain, synthetic everything. That is what we are headed for at an increasingly accelerated rate. We are losing our humanity minute by minute and replacing it with technology. This is not an accident. No, it is quite intentional. We are being programmed to accept the theory that technology is somehow better than nature, and that those who use it are superior to those who don't, when in actuality, we are becoming hopelessly dependent on it.
There is nothing wrong with technology when it is used as a tool for accomplishing worthy goals. However, there is a big difference between using it in a positive, beneficial way, and as a manipulative tool to create terminal dependence as a way of life.
When you become dependent on the machine, those who own the machine own you.
We are increasingly using unnatural means to achieve "real” sounding and "real” looking artificial constructs to replace what nature has provided. Take for example, Auto-Tune technology. This is used to make singers sound on key when in reality they are taking a shortcut to what normally takes talent and years of practice. We have now replaced true human excellence in art with a microwave version of computerized sounds made to appear as human.
In January of 2010, Kesha Sebert, known as ‘Ke$ha' debuted at number one on Billboard with her album, Animal. Her style is electro pop-y dance music: she alternates between rapping and singing, the choruses of her songs are typically melodic party hooks that bore deep into your brain: "Your love, your love, your love, is my drug!” And at times, her voice is so heavily processed that it sounds like a cross between a girl and a synthesizer. Much of her sound is due to the pitch correction software, Auto-Tune. LINK
This is the society of the future – Auto-Tuned, genetically manipulated, and living in a fantasy world. Not to worry if you can't do something as good as the next person, or aren't as physically attractive. Just add this enhancement and that enhancement and in less than the time it takes to say "hey, I want that too,” you will be just as good as the person who has worked for years to perfect his/her talent, nothing required but the bucks to buy the technology. An instant, microwave solution to life.

Yes sci-fi writers hard up for new material should spend an hour or so perusing the Defense Department?s 2015 budget proposal, especially the section covering the far-out research projects underway at DARPA, where the agency?s mad scientists are working to develop brain-controlled drones, biowarfare, engineer new life forms, and possibly attempt immortality.
If last year was the year of battlefield robots, cyborg soldiers, and weaponized drones, it looks like the next couple years will see the Pentagon gearing up for a deep dive into biotech. DARPA announced today it now has an unit devoted to studying the intersection of biology and engineering, the Biological Technologies Office. The agency is betting that the next generation of defense tech will be take a cue from natural life, and as such one of the major focuses of the new unit will be on synthetic biology. It?ll ramp up research into manufacturing biomaterials, turning living cells, proteins, and DNA into a sort of genetic factory.

About the Stop Killer Robots Campaign:
Over the past decade, the expanded use of unmanned armed vehicles has dramatically changed warfare, bringing new humanitarian and legal challenges. Now rapid advances in technology are resulting in efforts to develop fully autonomous weapons. These robotic weapons would be able to choose and fire on targets on their own, without any human intervention, raising numerous ethical, legal, moral, policy, technical, and other concerns with fully autonomous weapons. Giving machines the power to decide who lives and dies on the battlefield is an unacceptable application of technology. The Campaign to Stop Killer Robots is an international coalition of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) working to ban fully autonomous weapons.
