Calls For MMR Jab To Be Made Compulsory> Cui Bono?

In a previous incarnation we have blogged about the controversy surroundinf the MMR vaccine and its possible side - effects wich scientists deny but which keep being reported. Now in the wake of renewed calls from the British Medical Association for the vaccine to be made compulsory we take up the cause of concerned parents again.

Calls For MMR Jab To Be Made Compulsory

This is a topic we have blogged on again and again when this blog was Little Nicky Machiavelli.

every time The Daily Stirrer or any other responsible, intelligent and properly sceptical blogger questions the motives behind pressure from government and those disinterested contributors top Labour party funds, the drug companies to compel parents to submit their children to this and other very suspect multiple vaccines those questions are shouted down by gangs of cyberthugs claiming to be scientists.

There is no scientific evidence of a link between autism and MMR they say.

Andrew Wakefield's research has been discredited, they will yell, as if all the doubts centered on Wakefield's research and not on evidence of parents whose previously normally developing children suddenly developed severe health problems just days after receiving the virus.

The science lobby always claim these are isolated cases and are due to coincidence. The cases keep happening and the scientists keep on claiming it is coincidence. Young Jack who lives next door to us is not autistic. He would like to communicate, he really would. When he was younger his face would light up when I went into his Mum's garden and told him stories or read Dr. Seuss and other children's poems to him. Unfortunately Jack can't communicate. He can't walk or play with toys either, nine years ago, when he was 18 months old, he was given the MMR vaccine, his mother said she was not keen having heard from other parents it had made their children quite seriously ill but she was bullied by her GP and other health care professionals and told single vaccines "were not available. Forty eight hours after having the vaccine Jack became violently ill. Seventy two hours after being vaccinated Jack was in intensive care.

The little boy survived but he was quadriplegic and has never developed the power of speech although he can move one hand and arm slightly. He goes to school now and being a bright child has learned to communicate a little by some kind of sign language using fingers. He can also drive his electric wheelchair and in summer is a right little Lewis Hamilton as he zooms about the quiet close.

Highlight a case like Jack's to the science boys though and they will say science cannot consider individuals. T

hen they try to play the moral superiority card. "We are working to relieve suffering and eradicate disease across the whole population," they will say haughtily. but if medicine is not about individuals what is it about. Money as far as the drug companies and their pet politicians are concerned obviously because it is hubris to pretend they can ever eradicate all disease. Are they trying to convince us if we do all we are told to we will be able to cheat death? That is the fraudulent promise religion has traded on for 2000 years.

But let's accept the high priests of medical science cannot concern themselves with Jacks quality free life. He is after all only and what is the misery of one little boy against the corporate profits to be made from vaccinating all the babies born every year?

OK, so we will double the size of our sample. Thomas received the MMR vaccine rather late. His parents had been living abroad. Still his Godmother (a Hindu godmother no less - what a fine example of a multicultural society) a close friend of mine and a doctor herself tod the parents in response to their doubts there was actually a very slight chance if any of permanent harm occurring as a result of the vaccine and as a four year old Thomas would be stronger and have a better immune system.

Thomas is not autistic, he would be a perfectly normal child ... if only the seizures would stop. The fact that Thomas' condition started to deteriorate within forty eight hours of his being vaccinated. Now he has three or four seizures a day, but on a very good day only one or two. According to the high Priests Of Medical Science of course it is purely coincidence that Thomas' problems started right after he had the vaccine. There is no scientific evidence that MMR is linked to any of these cases or the many others that are reported every year.

There is no "scientific evidence" because nobody has seriously looked for any. The many scientific studies that have found no link are all fundamentally flawed in that the scientists conducting the tests don't know what they are looking for.

Another little quirk of these boy scientists is they are far too fond of quoting "post hoc" in justification of their dodgy potions. It is lazy thinker's shorthand for Post hoc ergo propter hoc is the fallacy on which most bad science is based." BOLLOCKS!

Firstly post hoc ergo propter hoc means after this therefore because of this. If we are using a Latin phrase at least we should have one that makes sense. "After this therefore because of this" is not a fallacy. If we have enough nous to see which of the things going on around us might be connected we see that post hoc ergo propter hoc is usually true rather than fallacious. I hit the "W" key on my keyboard and the letter W appears on my screen. How is that a fallacy?

The TV news bulletin just ended and this sentence appeared on my computer screen. It is not untrue but these things were coincidence. Nobody would be foolish enough to thing the ending of a TV programme had anything to do with words appearing on my screen would they? Well maybe a scientist in medical research would but nobody else. Except young Jack next door maybe, because his life experience is so limited. how is that a fallacy?

Instead of being impressed by such faulty reasoning we should throw a bit of Latin back at these scientists when they are peddling their paymasters agenda. Cui Bono? Who benefits? Is there any benefit to the child in having the triple vaccine instead of single shots? No. The single vaccines which were used for years have never been associated with severe side effects. Do the Government benefit then? Possibly but only marginally. Do the drug companis benefit? You bet your sweet life they do.

Post hoc ergo propter hoc. The manufacturers give generous donations to the political party in government and the law gets changed to the benefit of the donating manufacturer. That is no fallacy.

On the pitch at Old Trafford, Ryan Giggs crossed the ball to Rooney who was on the edge of the penalty area. Rooney struck the ball on the volley. High in the stand old Norman Bickerstaff bit into a meat pie. The ball flew into the goal. It does not really take much common sense to see which of these events are connected and link them. Post hoc ergo propter hoc, veritas (truth). Never let scientists lack of common sense and inability to see what is blindingly obvious confuse you. As The Buddha said: "Believe nothing. No matter where you read it, or who said it, even if I have said it, unless it agrees with your own reason and your own common sense."

Quod erat demonstrandum.

We will continue this theme as the hysterical braying of scientists seking to shout down all questions relating to the safety of their great cash cow ramp up the hysteria in support of their claims that all unvaccinated children will dies of measles tomorrow. And they accuse their opponents of hysteria.

September 2010 Uptight - The Blood Donor Experience
by fatsally
Once upon a time giving blood was easy, the atmosphere relaxed and people were encouraged to feel as is they were doing something good and worthwhile. Now, acording to fatsally's latest experience, a visit to the blood bank to offer a life saving armful is like The Prisoner meets Orwell's Big Brother. Bureaucracy has taken over and nobody is allowed to fel relaxed. Rules are rules.

Just been along to blood donors.
I've been going for years.
Loads of changes have occured over the time.

The first time I went, to a permanent centre in London, you could have a tin of Guinness as your post donating drink if you wished. A splendid idea but unfortunately it tended to attract the alcoholics, especially as ...

Court Victory For Anti - MMR Campaigners.
It is the medical scandal that refuses to go away. Since its introduction controversy has surrounded the MMR vaccine because in a small number - and we must stress, a small number - of cases children develop serious and permanent side effects after reveiving the vaccine. Now at last, after following a tactic used successfully in the USA and keeping the word autism out of their case, lawyers working for the family of Robert Fletcher have won the first award of compensation for 'brain damage' reslting from the MMR vaccine.

Property Prices To Fall Again?Despite government eforts to talk up a recovery the economy remains stubbornly stagnant. It is unsurprising really, the UK economy still relies far too much on the housing and property market and with incomes being squeezed and house prices remaining so high they are beyond the reach of first time buyers there is little change of increased activity while unemployment continues to rise.

Food Will Cost The Earth
A bid by Australian mining giant BHP Billiton to buy Potash Corp of Canada draws attention to food price inflation, rising commodity prices in world markets and an impending global food supply crisis. It is not just potash, essential in food production, but other finite resources like oil that corporate giants are bidding to gain control of that should concern us. Women Can't Resist The Smell Of Alpha Males according to new research reported in today's Daily Mail science section. (If you think DSaily Mail and science should never appear in the same sentence just read on, this is good stuff.)

Cameron in Babygate Puzzle

So do certain contradictions in reporting of circumstances surrounding the birth of David and Samantha Cameron's daughter mean the conspiracy theorists will soon be at work?

Do We Need GM Salmon
US authorities today began the process to approve the first GM animal for human consumption.
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced a 60-day period of consultation and public meetings over whether to permit a GM strain of salmon to be eaten by humans, even though it has been called a "frankenfish" by critics. The approval process could take less than a year, and if it gets the green light the fish could be on the market in 18 months.
Environmentalists and scientists see the decision as marking a threshold. If it is approved it is likely to open the door to a large range of ...

Dumb Science Story Of The Week: Old People Forget Things
