Among the Skerries
The Swedish capital Stockholm is one of the livliest, friendliest and most beautiful I have visited. In keeping with out theme of finding peace and beauty close to where people live we have chosen this view taken from one of the smaller islands in the Stockholm archipelago.

Sunset In The Skerries

One of the most attractive cities I have ever visited is Stockholm. Not only does the city itself offer many varied experiences, the Stockholm archiepelago, a group of over a thousand islands and skerries offers many scenes like this photo taken from one of the smaller, uninhabited islands. The citizens of Stockholm are very appreciative of the beautiful setting their home town occupies. Many are bating enthusiasts and at weekends they love to get out among the thousand plus islands and skerries of the archipelago and enjoy the harmony of sea and coastal land. The Baltic Sea is bounded by land with only a narrow outlet to the Atlantic many miles to the south so bad weather is rarely a problem.

The Swedish summer, though short, is surprisingly warm for a place so far to the north so while sea bathing is only for the most intrepid nature lover, picnics in the skerries are a lot of fun. Visitors can hire small boats or take a trip on one of the launches that tours the islands. And if you want to linger on one of the many lovely islands that have landing stages for the tour boats you can always catch a later launch back to the heart of the city.
