In Greenteeth's meditations pages we aim to bring you a little sample of the rewarding experiences to be found without straying too far from home. There is beauty everywhere and in everything. This night shot of a refinery on Humberside, UK which is enhanced by the slow exposure giving an otherworldly effect to the photograph is a good example of how lights at night can provide a fasinating image.

Feel the Burn #1
Industrial Nightmare, Norhern England

You do not need a refinery on your doorstep to be able to enjoy night vistas like this of course. Climb any hill overlooking a town or city and the light show stretched out beneath you will be quite spectacular. I was once on a flight returning to London after a business trip. We flew in over the east coast and up the Thames towards Heathrow. It was December and the view of the city lights was enhanced by the Christmas displays that cdecorated the shopping strets of the West End. I did not have a camera with me but the picture would be outside the scope of these pages. Memories are etter than photographs though.

Be imaginative in the way you look at things and you will find plenty of scenes that will not only capture your attention and release you from mundane concerns, but a memory will be printed on your mind forever.
