Is There A God After All?
Sitting in the Boggartblog editorial office the other day, chewing the fat, our finger nails , the table, well we had run out of biscuits, and the topic of conversation turned to ...

Science cannot provide all the answers, there is room for faith
Why, in these days when the militant atheist supporters of Richard Dawkins and his fellow travellers are so ready to decry and belittle religiopus faith and claim science has proved God does not exist, do so many eminent scientists still believe in God, including a number who have made carers in science but are very active in their respectoive churces?
Melvin Bragg attacks Richard Dawkins Atheist Fundamentalism
Broadcaster, novelist and critic Melvyn Bragg has launched a fierce attack on militant atheists and in particular Professor Richard Dawkins, accusing him and those who follow him of “ignorance” . . .
There Is A War Going On Between Religion And Science. Is A Truce Possible
The war, let's be honest, is between religious fundamentalists and science fanatics. Each is straying into the other's territory. But both are out of order and should leave the unanswetrable questions to philosophy. Can there be a truce, can the two coexist?
Former Archbishop Of Canterbury George Carey says its time to remind ourselves Christians have rights too
George Carey, former Archbishop of Canterbury, has warned there are 'dark forces at work in Western society' that are degrading the values of Christianity after a High Court ruling banned public prayers from council meetings ...
Fascist Judge Should Be Taken Outside And Shot.
In one of the most gobsmackingly biased politically motivated ruling ever to come from a leftie judge, a left wing piolitoical activist judge who should not even be on the bench because of his political bias ruled that prayers before a town council meting are illegal...
Myth, Folklore and The Supernatural
A squidoo lens currently in development that expores the history and meaning of myths and tries to find an answer to the question why these ancient stories still resonate so powerfully in the human psyche.
The Infallibility Of Science, The Divinity Of Jesus and A Pope
When a question about why so many seemingly rational people accept the idea of Jesus's divinity was posted at a site I use a very lively thread developed. Strangely it was not the Christians who were pedantic and resisdtant to new ideas but people who claim they are atheists and agnostics.
Principled Agnosticism
Principled Agnosticism, a phrase coined by UK writer Madeline Bunting offer a path between absolute faith and absolute atheism of the militant, science worshipping kind.
Eat The King
The Green Man Meets The Easter Bunny and they enjoy a feast of ritual cannibalism. Sometime in the spring every year somebody will ask me did the pre - Christian pagan societies really sacrifice their King and eat his flesh. I'm a pagan only because nothing else makes any sense, I have never taken part in any rituals or felt the need for any religious observance. So perhaps I am well placed to explain the symbolism behind these seemingly cruel and brutal rituals that survive to the present day.
A Quick Tour Of The Church of Saint Mary and All Saints, Whalley, Lancashire, UK
A quick tour of the parish church of St Mary and All Saints in Whalley gives us a glimpse of the history of this area. There has been a Christian church on this site since the seventh century and though the eariest parts of the current building are from the tenth century stones from the older church were used in the construction. Three ancient Saxon crosses that stand in the church grounds are also from the tenth century
Going Halal In Harrow - Going Gay In Rome
As America divides politically again over plans to build a Muslim centre with prayer room (its not a Mosque OK) close to the site of the World Trade Centre destroyed in 2001 by Muslim Terrorists, Britain has a few divisions of its own brewing on a smaller scale of course. One involves Muslims and Halal meat in schools, in the other the gay rights lobby, famed for demanding tolerance, are showing no tolerance towards Roman Catholic religious principles.
Bed and Breakfast Bible Society
When a gay couple turn up at a bed and breakfast hotel looking for a double room nobody bats an eyelid these days. Unless that is, the B & B is run by a Christian fundamentalist couple.
The Druid Path
Religion, faith and spirituality will always be a controversial topic. We try to bring to our site an objective and balanced view of all belief systems. This page deals with the Druidic tradition of Northern Europe andong with a taste of what to look for should you travel to these areas.
The True Hockey Stick
Believer in the new religion of AGW, anthropogenic global warming or climate change will be sick of having their science based faith mocked and their scientist priests ridiculed. To help them hold to their belief we offer a change to own a fragment of the true hockey stick, the sacred symbol of their religion.
Catholic Faith and Progressive Left's Hypocrisy
That most reactionary of political persuasions, The Progressive Left, are quick to indulge in self righteous criticism of hypocrisy shown by Churches and faith but when one of their own stands accused their hypocrisy and double standards are soon revealed to be greater than any.
The Craziest Doomsday Cult Ever?
America is known as the spiritual home of crackpot religions. There are hundreds of tree worshipping churches, people who pull snakes out of each others' arses, Old Testament goat shaggers and post modernist computer worshippers. People seem to be so needful any control freak with a world domination complex can set up a religion or cult, find some followers who will hail this person as the prophet of their faith, lead the poor saps into the mountains or desert and turn formerly straightlaced people into enthusiastic Jesus loving debauchees. And so long as they invoke God or Jesus often enough nobody seems to mind. They are a bit more suspicious of Hindu's Buddhists, Pagans and other no Abrahamic belief systems. At least not until the kool aid has been handed round and it is all too late...
Barack Obama, The Electric Monk and the Museum Of Creation
In America the collapse of the economy, the inexorable rise of unemployment and the hostility of developing nations to President Obama's climate change proposals have so far failed to dent the belief of Obama's rabid supporters in the divinity of their 'beloved President'...
America Is Collectively Insane
With a President apparently besotted by the philosophies of 1960s West Coast stoners, the religious right convinced Obama is The Antichrist, a judicial system either too arrogant or too afraid of the consequences to deal with contitutionally important questions about Obama's legitimacy and with social order in meltdown is America beyond redemption?...
The Stools Of Satan
When an American Evangelical Preacher starts talking about "the way Jesus want you to eat," it is well worth taking notice, especially if you are an atheist who writes a satirical blog. There is bound to be a lot of good material in it....
They Prayed Him Straight
[ humour, comedy ] ... [ boggart blog ]
After the latest developments in the bizarre story of rent boy using homo hating evangelical preacher Ted Haggard I my have to rethink my lifelong refusal to have anything to do with religion....
Blake's Heaven
[ philosophy ]... [ literature ] ...
William Blake was probably one of the most remarkable and unique writers and visionaries British literature has produced. Though not in the same class as a writer as Shakespeare or Tennyson, his heretical perspective on mainstream Christian thinking did much to change the direction of society as industrialisation progressed through the nineteenth century. This article then is not so much about Blake the poet as Blake the philosopher...
My Problem With God
Let me say before I start, there is only one God I have a problem with, the God of the Bible fundamentalists, the great celestial puppet master whom they would have us believe is pulling everybody's strings. The more distant God of the Anglicans, Unitarians, Quakers, Wesleyans, Allah, Brahmin etc. are all fine by me.
Our Debt To Islam
Should we let our society be defined by the opinions of a minority of people who, over the past 2000 years have repeatedly shown themselves to be prone to hysteria and far to ready when faced with challenging times to adopt the mindset of the mob. I refer of course to the way in which the events of 9/11 are being written into history as a point in which humanity changed direction. Mistrust of Islam existed before 9/11 of course but since then it has grown out of all proportion to any potential threat. Instead of blaming Islam for all the ills of the world though, we who enjoy the benefits of western civilisation should thank Islam for ....erm, well, ... the benefits of western civilisation or many of them at least....
Mary Gypsy
Christians tend to get on their high horse when paganism is mentioned. They are wrong to deny the true roots of their own religion though. The legend of Mary Gypsy tells us a lot about the way the Chistian faith developed out of pagan beginnings around the Mediterranean and along the Atlantic coast of Europe and North Africa
What A Pagan Believes
So many people misunderstand what it means to be pagan, some deliberately because they are determined to decry every faith, religion or belief system except their own, some because their only information on pagan beliefs come from films like The Wicker Man and some because they like the idea of being slightly sinister and edgy.
Pagans Are Back
Suddenly paganism is back in fashion. But what do these ancient, nature worshipping belief systems have to offer people in modern society? Well maybe it's the nudity and sex.
Atheists Miss The Bus
A plan to put advertisements for Atheism on London buses in competition with ads promoting religion is whacko to say the least.
The Chistmas Legend Retold
At this time of year our e-mail addresses are inundated with messages about how we should all have faith in God, or reminders that amid the shclockfest of the modern winter festival we should be aware of the Christian origins of the celebration. I don't really mind that, if you are Christian that is your choice and I would defend to the death anybody's right to be wrong if they so choose. And I will wish you merry Christmas with true goodwill. What does irritate me, usually at this time of year but in 2008, throughout the year, is the arrogance of Christians in assuming we all share their fallacies and misconceptions.
The True Tale Of The Easter Bunny
Greenteeth is a rather irreligious organisation, we believe that gods, like laws are created by humans and only nature can reveal the truth. Having said that, there are many ways to the truth and we would not deny that Christianity, Islam, Judaeism, Zoroastrianism, Hinduism and all the other religions, one stripped of dogma to offer something to people whose personalities incline them towards ritual. Buddhism BTW is excluded from the list as it is not a religion but a belief system.
A Real Role For The Church
Church leaders particularly in the Church of England complain of dwindling congregations and lack of interest. But could they find a more prominent role in society be being a bit less about Jesus and more about people.
Sexual Salvation
Parents and employers have complained for years that children are getting dumber while politicians point to examination statistics and claim the opposite. So what is going on? We reveal Dumbing Down is a conspiracy.
